Comparing two music magazine titles of the same genre

 

These two Classic Rock magazine are kind of the same. This is because the person they are taking the photo of are in the middle of the page with a dark background and the name of there band going over them. Other things that are similar is the small print on the sides of the cover. Also there is no stand out features apart fro the title like you get on pop magazines

Evaluation of Feedback

the feedback I received on my contents page was sort of the same as my own evaluation. the negative they said about my page was the same I said, that it was the thumb in the bottom right of it and it did not look good and needed to be cropped to make it look better. The positives were slightly different one of them was that the caption under the photos was a good idea and would help the reader find what they are looking for. The other positive they said was that with borders around the writing made it look better, that's something I did not say.

I am happy with the photography because all of the photos are in focus and they look professional. They all go well with the things the contents page is showing also they are eye catching. On the other I could have got another photo to put in the bottom left and put the writing to the right; but apart from that the photography is good. This was my first time using InDesign and at first I found it challenging because I thought it would be like Photoshop but they have their differences but after a while I got the hang of it. The tool which was a bit difficult to use was the text tool this is because I did not know how to change the colour of the font and the background of the text box. The photo tool was easy to use as all you need to do was draw a box and insert the image in. if I had to improve with one of the tools it would be the text one and make it look better. I think my page is good because there is good photography, easy to read and will catch the eye of the reader. I believe that it turned out the way I wanted it to and it looks like a proper college contents page. To improve this I could of decluttered it a bit and but some space in between the things on it. Both this and my front cover have the style red on them and I would continue this house style through the magazine. Also the font style is the same too.  If I had to improve this I would put a border on the photos to make them look better. I asked a friend and they said the best thing about the page was the photography, he also said that the font and colour scheme was a good choice

The photography in this front cover could have been better as the picture was a bit blurry meaning the picture wasn’t very good quality also; on the right side of the photo my jacket clashes with the colour of the background because of the colour so I decided to put it in black and white. The other things with the photo are good because it had my head and shoulders in it, which was what we need to do, and the top of my head hasn’t been cut out.

When using the program I found it challenging at times this is because it was my first time using it so I didn’t know what to do at times. I learned to use just the basic tools; I did try to crop the outside of my picture but could not find a way to do so which I will try and find out how to do later on. I believe if I keep using this program I will learn more about it but I would like to use a different program at a later date

I think that my front cover is good but it could be better, this is because; I have used some of the features to make the front cover look good but I could try different things to make it look even better such as a 3D effect on the writing or removing the background of the photo. If I could do it again I would make it more colourful because at the moment it looks pretty dull. I asked a friend and they said they liked the look of it because of the colours I used and the way I set it out.

Contents Page Review

1.   This contents page is laid out very simply meaning that it is easy to read and understand which is good for the reader. The picture is good as well because it’s not too bright so it’s not putting the reader off; also it is large scale so it catches the eye of the reader. The colour scheme is a basic black and white again making the page simple and easy to read.

 

2.   In this contents page it is also appealing and it is easy to read. It is appealing because of the colours they have used black and white with bits of red to help it stand out. It also uses more pictures to show what is on some of the pages in the magazine. Some faults with this could include the font, some people may not be able to read it properly especially in smaller font.

 

 

3.   This page has good points and bad point. The good things about this is that it’s got good photography also it is very easy to read the way it is set out and the colours they have use go well with it. The bad thing about this is that they have not included the page number with it so you do not know what page you have to go to read the article
