Question 4: Who would be the audience for your media product?

All media products must keep their target audience in their mind when designing their product. This is because the media companies need to know what their audience likes so they can keep them paying their products and bring more people in. what the media product can do to keep their audience pleased is changing the content and the design to what the audience likes.

Demographics are statistical data relating to the population and particular groups within it. A VALs is a proprietary research methodology used for psychographic market segmentation. Media products will use demographics and VALs to see who there audience is and to understand them as much as they can. They will do this so they can add or take things away from there product to match what there target audience wants so they bring more customers in and keep the people who normally buy there product there too.

For our planning we produced a readership profile similar to the NME profile to understand more about our target audience. A readership profile is a whole page dedicated to the target audience; it will include the key stats about them such as most popular gender, median age and more. It will also talk about what the audience likes and what they do for fun films and music.
